Chinese motion picture director Zhang Yimou withdrew consideration of his film 'Not One Less' from the 1999 Cannes Film Festival because he is uncertain of the festival's commitment to artistic values. Yimou's first priority is the Chinese audience, and his primary motivation in making films is respect for the medium.
