Aggregation bias and study of mortgage lending
Article Abstract:
George C. Galster and Peter Hoopes'study on aggregation bias in mortgage lending challenges a wide range of existing research on home finance particularly research done at the national level. However, Galster and Hoopes' study focuses mainly on the technical problems of aggregation. Moreover, they demand consistency in all statistical tests conducted on aggregated suburban units. They fail to consider that decisions to aggregate certain areas depends on a wide range of factors such as strong economic and social ties.
