Agricultural change and restructuring: Recent evidence from a survey of agricultural households in England
Article Abstract:
The results of a survey conducted of agricultural business restructuring within six English study areas selected to span a range of agricultural settings and designed to identify the different trajectories of change to be found there are presented. It shows that while there is some evidence of disengagement from mainstream agriculture and an increasingly diverse set of relationships between the occupation and management of land, commitment to remaining in agriculture remains strong amongst farming families.

Household, gender, and political responses to economic downturn: extending theories of mobilization
Article Abstract:
The conceptual discourse of mobilization by considering alternative bases of action involving household and its gendered relationships is extended by building upon resource mobilization theory and longstanding structural approaches. An empirical example using data from a twelve-state midwestern sample of farm couples during the 1980s farm crisis was provided.
