Al Qaeda as a Dune organization: Toward a typology of Islamic terrorist organizations
Article Abstract:
A new concept of the Dune organization that is distinct from other organizational modes of thinking is introduced leading to a new typology of Islamic terrorist organizations. This typology concentrates on organizational behavior patterns and provides a framework for a comparative analysis of terrorist movements, which is applied to the study of Al Qaeda.

The leaderless nexus: When crime and terror converge
Article Abstract:
An argument that the breakdown of hierarchical structures in illicit organizations is creating new opportunities for criminals and terrorists to collaborate is presented. The result is that a 'leaderless nexus' is beginning to emerge between criminals and terrorists.
