On the relation between associative strength and automatic behavior
Article Abstract:
This study investigates the relationship between social contact, stereotypes, and associative strength. Results indicate that people who spend time with the elderly perform worse on a memory test after being primed with an elderly stereotype due to strong stereotypical associations resulting from social contact.

Illusions of gender: stereotypes evoke false memories
Article Abstract:
This article examines the relationship between gender stereotypes, idea association, and false memory in college students. Results indicate that exposure to a list of traditional male or female gender roles increases false recognition rates during a subsequent memory task due to implicit associative processes.

Automatic stereotypes vs. automatic prejudice: sorting out the possibities in the Payne (2001) weapon paradigm
Article Abstract:
Payne (2001) reported that the African-American faces facilitate the categorization of both handguns and sports-related objects. Studies indicate that when perceivers are attempting to identify objects, automatic stereotypic associations, both positively and negatively valenced ones, are more influential than general negative sentiments towards African-Americans.
