Bulgarian social services and social work education
Article Abstract:
The changes in the social welfare system, the social and mental health services and the social work education in Bulgaria has resulted in a change of attitudes and thinking as to the necessity of reorganization of social services systems in the democratic society. The Bulgarian Ministry of Social Welfare is making changes based on subsistence needs such as giving unemployment benefits and defining a poverty-line among others. Social work education programs are based on promoting the student's awareness of the social problems in the society.

Older Russian immigrants to the USA: their utilization of health services
Article Abstract:
The population of Jewish Russian immigrants in the United States has increased. Many of these immigrants are sufferings from disabilities and physical illness. Due to poor language skills, and an unfamiliarity with the US health system, many are unable to access those health services. The authors offer health care professionals and social worker strategies for therapeutic intervention.

Managing the quality paradox: producing welfare services in a turbulent environment
Article Abstract:
An analysis is presented on administering social services to meet the sometimes incompatible demands of different stakeholders, such as public authorities, management, staff and service users. The article focuses on Belgium's administrative system; findings include a need for setting professional quality parameters, and for funding operations costs as well as the services themselves.
