Characteristics of migration processes in the southern regions of Russia
Article Abstract:
The migration process in southern Russia in cities such as Stavropol Krai, Krasnodar Krai and Astrakhan are examined to study the attitudes of the population, civic organizations and bodies of authority about restricting the flows of migration. It is seen that a rather negative attitude towards the migrants predominates and while the population has met ethnic Russian refugees from Chechnya with compassion and sympathy, when it comes to migrants of non-Slavic origin the situation is more complicated.
