Child sexual abuse in Hong Kong: double victimization?
Article Abstract:
The reported incidence of child sexual abuse in Hong Kong has been increasing in recent years, rising from just 77 cases in 1994 to 242 in 1997. A study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of six cases of intrafamilial abuse that had completed the counseling process between Apr 1, 1995 and Dec 31, 1996. The findings underscore the significance of the school setting in spotting cases of sexual abuse. One similarity found among the victims was their reluctance to report the abuse even while they want for it to end.

The epidemiology of child sexual abuse
Article Abstract:
A panel discussion concerning epidemiological research on child sexual abuse is presented. The main focus of abuse should be on risks and outcomes rather than incidence and prevalence. The limitations of epidemiological studies are affecting the accuracy of the research since they fail to distinguish the exact nature of abuse whether physical, neglect or sexual cases. Focus of the research on the outcomes leads to better understanding of the intervention program.
