Conditions at conception in women with recurrent miscarriage
Article Abstract:
The risk of miscarriage in a daughter is not determined by low and high maternal age and short preceding birth intervals. This was indicated by results of a study of the role of conditions at conception in the risk of miscarriage, using data from 234 women with at least two consecutive miscarriages after conceptions from the same partner. The women were asked to furnish the birth dates of their mothers and their live or stillborn siblings and the occurrence of any maternal miscarriages. Results also indicate the influence of seasonally varying factors on risk of miscarriage.

This article examines the reproductive performance of women born between 1873-1902 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The authors, focusing on the birth intervals of the women and the relation to their own birthing patterns, argue that women who were born after short intervals were not as fertile as women who were born after intermediate or long intervals.
