A Gray Zone? Meetings between sociology and gerontology
Article Abstract:
The interdisciplinary nature of the study of gerontology can be traced back to the 1940s and Talcott Parsons and Ralph Linton who both wrote articles on social roles based on age and sex in 1942. It is claimed that the sociology field has contributed more to the field of gerontology, with life course perspective among its key contributions. An overview of material written on sociology and ageing is given.
