Sociological visions and revisions
Article Abstract:
Charles Lemert and Donald Levine believe that sociology is facing a moral crisis because professionals are unconcerned about the moral dilemmas of modernity. In 'Sociology After the Crisis' Lemert looks beyond the traditional boundaries of sociology and advices professionals to learn to listen differently. Levine proposes a dialogical approach in 'Visions of the Sociological Tradition' which has a large scope for contemporary sociology. He also provides an urbane, learned and hopeful history while Lemert focuses on sociological sin and repentance.

The sociological eye and its blinders
Article Abstract:
Every person who is interested in sociology is a true sociologist. Not only those who practise ethnographic or participant observation including microethnographers, statisticians, sociologists, theorists and historical comparativists have the sociological eye. However, there is another form of sociological commitment known as social activism which is often opposed to sociological eye. Of the two, the sociological eye is better since, without it, even the social activists will lose their creativity.
