Education as policy: the impact of education on marriage, contraception, and fertility in Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the influence of education on three demographic outcomes, namely, fertility, contraceptive use and the timing of first sexual union. Investigation was performed using a multivariate model across time and geographic areas. Results indicate significant improvements in female educational attainment over 50 years. Findings also demonstrate that educational differences in reproductive behavior are reduced as the level of development increased.

Effects on lactation and contraceptive use on birth-spacing in Bolivia
Article Abstract:
The data from 1989 Demographic and Health Survey of Bolivia suggests the IUD is the most effective contraceptive method applied to postpone conception. Breastfeeding has considerable influence in extending the gap between birth interval. The return of fecundity and delay conception appeared to be greatly hampered by the conditions of poverty. A clearer understanding of the link between breastfeeding, contraceptive use and the health of the mother and child is required.
