Evaluation of a job-finding club for TANF recipients: psychosocial impacts

Research about helping people receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families find employment through job clubs showed those in job clubs who did not find work were more than twice as likely to perceive transportation as the most significant barrier to employment, compared to those who found work.

ACORN'S accelerated income redistribution project: A program evaluation
Article Abstract:
The study conducted by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform's Now (ACORN) to increase the uptake of families claiming the earned income tax credit through door-to-door canvassing and managing free tax preparation clinics in three pilot cities is presented. The ACORN's approach to combining services and direct action organizing is effective and sustainable in getting families to take advantage of free tax preparation.
