Explaining caesarean section in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil
Article Abstract:
Research suggests that a wide variety of political and social factors are involved in the continuing high rate of cesarean section births in the Brazilian city of Salvador da Bahia, ruling out solitary influences such as obstetrician self-interest and patient preference. Implications for health policy changes are also discussed.
