Gender, smoking expectancies, and readiness to quit among urban African American smokers
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted among four hundred and eighty-four urban African American smokers for determining the relationship between smoking expectancies and readiness to quit smoking and explore the best combination of expectancies, which will help in predicting the readiness to quit. The results confirmed that both positive and negative expectancies may be related to the motivation to quit and men and women do not differ in their readiness to quit and weight-control expectancies.
