The Community Design Collaborative of AIA Philadelphia, a volunteer pro bono assistance to nonprofits recruits architects, engineers, planners, and preservationists to use their skills in support of nonprofits throughout southeastern Pennsylvania. Design practitioners from many disciplines, including architecture, engineering and construction, offer assistance in areas such as structural and mechanical assessments site and cost evaluations, space planning and conceptual design analysis.

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) have collaborated in a strategy to be implemented nationally to provide free instruction by professional artists during non-school hours for children and youth living in public housing. The central mission of these community-based institutions is to provide high quality, affordable, and visual arts to all, regardless of age, race, financial means or level of ability.
