Violence in the social work workplace: The Canadian experience
Article Abstract:
The experiences and attitudes of social workers working with violent or potentially violent clients in the Canadian region, especially the social workers' personal experience of clients' violence and their assessment of it as a safety concern in their workplace are described. The recommendations that are aimed at preventing and managing client violence include the incorporation of material on the actiology of violence and on predicting and managing client violence in the curriculum of schools of social work.

Identifying conduct problems in young children: developmental pathways and risk factors
Article Abstract:
This article discusses the problems that can evolve if children with conduct disorders are not diagnosed and treated at an early age. The author maintains that affordable and effective treatments do exist, and can prevent emotional problems to the child and family later on, as well as reduce the financial costs of health and medical care.

Creating a culture of hope: lessons from street children agencies in Canada and Guatemala
Article Abstract:
The stories and struggles of children living on the streets along with some programs that have been successful in supporting them is presented. The street child population is not homogeneous, but it presents the service providers with a number of common experiences.
