How far have we come in dealing with the emotional challenge of abuse and neglect?
Article Abstract:
Medical professionals dealing with abused children are often confronted with feelings that interfere with their work. Hobbs in 1992 stated that denial and the reluctance to take responsibility are the main reasons that hinder professionals from effectively helping abused children recover from their ordeals. Intertwined with the emotional problems of medical workers is the problem of developing a theory that mirrors the various dimensions of child abuse. It would be difficult to deal with the emotional problems until the problem of child abuse is fully studied.

Closure, covert warnings, and escalating child abuse
Article Abstract:
Two interactional patterns between families where child maltreatment occur and mental health professionals appear to be associated with escalating and possibly fatal child abuse. The first type of interaction between families and professionals is closure, wherein the former shun contact with the outside world, specifically with monitoring professionals. The other is covert warnings, wherein families contact professionals, a behavior which is a disguised admission of escalating abuse.
