Numeric judgments under uncertainty: the role of knowledge in anchoring
Article Abstract:
This article investigates the impact of anchoring effects, or the cognitive bias caused by assimilating a numeric standard, on the accuracy of numeric judgements. Results indicate that the magnitude of anchoring effects are mediated by the plausibility of the numeric anchor and the individual's level of uncertainty about the judgment.

Considering the impossible: explaining the effects of implausible anchors
Article Abstract:
Implausible anchors have large effects on judgment, a phenomenon involving the adjustment of a numerical estimate in the direction of a previously considered (implausible) value. Different psychological mechanisms may contribute to the effect.

Hypothesis-consistent testing and semantic priming in the anchoring paradigm: a selective accessibility model
Article Abstract:
An explanation of the anchoring effect was made by drawing the general principles of semantic priming and hypothesis-consistent testing. The Selective Accessibility Model suggested that a hypothesis-consistent test strategy is what judges use in solving a comparative anchoring task. However, the findings suggested that the distortion of the subsequent absolute judgment was affected by the use of this strategy. Furthermore, the idea that the mechanisms of hypothesis-consistent testing and semantic priming mediate anchoring effects was also supported by the findings.
