Landowners and the structure of affordable housing provision in rural Scotland
Article Abstract:
The behavior of private landowners in rural Scotland in relation to housing supply, especially in renting and low-cost housing is considered. The findings reveal that the motivations of the landowners are rarely as simple as assumed in some conventional analyses and might be counter-intuitive.

Sentient commodities and productive paradoxes: The ambiguous nature of human-livestock relations in Northeast Scotland
Article Abstract:
Ethnographic data is used to illustrate sociologically the paradoxical nature of commercial and hobby livestock production in the context of Northeast Scotland. Producers of livestock have contradictory productive roles, as empathetic carers and economic producers of 'sentient commodities'.
