Lay experiences of health and illness: past research and future agenda
Article Abstract:
A general outlook and evaluation of work published during the 25 years of 'Sociology of Health and Illness' that has enhanced perspective of lay experiences of health and illness is presented. Medical sociologists are advised to be more receptive to the use of innovative and contemporary ideological and technical strategies.

Mobilising modern facts: health technology assessment and the politics of evidence
Article Abstract:
Using data from the seminars attended by senior health care professionals and researchers and sessions of the House of Commons Health Committee the efficacy of health technology assessments in formulating health policies is studied.
