Measuring consumer participation in mental health services: are attitudes related to professional orientation?
Article Abstract:
A Consumer Participation Questionnaire was developed to measure the involvement of consumers in the planning, management and evaluation of mental health services and the attitudes of mental health workers towards consumer participation.Findings indicated that progress occurred faster by individual treatment rather than at the organizational level. Recommendations to promote more effective customer participation and the need to value a collaborative approach in professional training programs were enumerated.
