Philosophical considerations in analysis
Article Abstract:
The philosophies of psychoanalysts about human experience and interaction have a strong influence on their clinical work. It is argued that universals in the human psyche exist which allow people to perceive emotions of those of different backgrounds. It is also argued that a dialectic should exist between the intuitive experiences of psychoanalysts and the experimental data of scientists that test their hypothesis.

Subjectivity, analytic theory, and the analytic relationship
Article Abstract:
The model of the analytic objectivity presented in classical theory is analyzed. Classical theory presents the practitioner as an objective observer who simply sheds light on the latent meanings of the unconscious processes that arise from the patient. However, it is argued that analysts will always be influenced by their own subjectivity and that their knowledge of theory does not ensure their objectivity.
