A multiple modernity perceptive that attempts to explain the global rise of religious and ethnic nationalism. The worldwide parallel development of nationalism and religion, which is seen as a reaction against the forces of globalization is discussed.

Glocommodifications: how the global consumes the local - McDonald's in Israel
Article Abstract:
A shift from the homogeneous-heterogeneous dichotomy to a structural symbolic construct is proposed with regard to the issue of globalization. Encounters between McDonald's and the Israeli national habitus and national ideology are examined.
