Negative affect words prime beer consumption in young drinkers
Article Abstract:
The synonym generation task was used to determine if processing of negative affect words would increase beer consumption in an ostensibly unrelated taste test procedure in drinkers who are young. It was found that even unobtrusive exposure to negative affect cues could prime drinking behavior in young drinkers that could be tied to the severity of alcohol problems.
