On the primacy of affect in the determination of attitudes and behavior: the moderating role of affective-cognitive ambivalence
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to investigate the effect of an ambivalent affective-cognitive structure in regulating the relative impact of cognition and affect on overall behavior and attitudes. It was hypothesized that affect would be predominant over cognition in determining behavior and attitudes. Results indicate that neither type of information consistently displayed the stronger influence on attitudes and behavior.

Testing sociometer theory: Self-esteem and the importance of acceptance for social decion-making
Article Abstract:
The sociometer's role in guiding the social behavior of people and the dependence on acceptance for decision-making are studied by inviting undergraduate students to join a social group. It is found that people with high self-esteem are almost always eager to join a group whereas low self-esteem people are keen to join only when acceptance is guaranteed and the same is true about decision-making.
