On wonderful women and seeing smiles: Social categorization moderates the happy face response latency advantage
Article Abstract:
The extent to which social categorization, stereotyping and prejudice affect the manner in which facial expressions are interpreted by the observer is investigated. The tendency for happy faces to be accurately categorized more quickly was also analyzed and both investigations indicated that target sex moderates categorization speed and accuracy.

The contribution of face familiarity to ingroup favoritism and stereotyping
Article Abstract:
The familiar face overgeneralization's (FFO's) contribution to racial prejudice and stereotyping is examined. The results have suggested that interventions designed to increase people's familiarity with other race faces might improve the reactions to individuals whose race differs from their own.

An overview of research in historical trends in face perception conducted from the 1950s onwards is presented. Neuroscientists are currently leading in face perception research but input from other psychology disciplines is considered equally valuable.
