Rationing health care to disabled people
Article Abstract:
This article discusses the political economic factors influencing the rationing of health care to disabled persons in managed care organizations. The author, examining the care received by two disabled individuals, argues the care given is often inadequate and costly due to the influence of major stakeholders, institutional coalitions working against patient interests, and the emphasis on profits which ultimately devalue the life of the patient.
