Regulatory focus and executive function after interracial interactions
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to examine whether regulatory focus moderates the negative impact of interracial interactions on executive function, in which prior to an interracial interaction, White female students are told either to try to have a positive interracial exchange (promotion focus), avoid prejudice (prevention focus), or given no instruction (control). Results show that those in the prevention and control conditions perform worse in the Stroop color-naming task, to assess executive attentional task performance, than those in the promotion condition.

Converging interracial consequences of exposure to violent rap music on stereotypical attributions of blacks
Article Abstract:
Issues are discussed regarding media coverage of violent rap music being a possible inspiration for stereotypical opinions of African American youth. The impact of exposure to violent rap music may also affect other stereotype-related traits, such as intelligence, but not judgments of nonstereotypical traits such as spatial skills.

African Americans' implicit racial attitudes and the depletion of executive function after interracial interactions
Article Abstract:
A study investigates whether engaging in interracial interactions also depletes the executive resources of black individuals as a function of their racial attitudes toward whites. The results recommend that interracial interactions can be cognitively costly for members of both racial majority and minority groups.
