Revisiting a repopulated village: a step backwards in the changing status of women
Article Abstract:
The El Salvadoran peace accord of the early 1990s has led to a reversal in the status of women of repopulated villages. Strides towards women's rights in the region were beginning to take effect before the accord. Since then, women have been pushed back in a society based on patriarchy and oppression. The postwar changes in the lives of these women are discussed.
