Self effects in memory for person information
Article Abstract:
The ability to recall stimuli such as words or images is greatly improved when the stimuli is judged with reference to the self. A study conducted among 48 female pairs proves the validity of first impressions. The women were asked to participate in several discussions and were later asked to give descriptors of themselves and their partners. The same women were given memory tests two days later. Results indicate that the women recalled more of what their partners said about them than what the partners said about themselves, and that they assumed they were the referents of descriptors the partners had given for themselves.

Implicit memory for age stereotypes
Article Abstract:
The adjectives that either conformed, or were inconsistent with negative stereotypes of older people were presented to 80 subjects, classified as high or low in age prejudice. The effects of controlled and implicit memory on performance were estimated by allowing the subjects to complete the adjectives with either new or studied adjectives. While implicit memory was more common for stereotype-consistent rather than inconsistent words, highly prejudiced participants show greater implicit memory for stereotype consistent words.

Emotion and memory research: A grumpy overview
Article Abstract:
Investigators claim that emotions have no special effect on memory and they lead to enhanced memory for either congruent or central information. Evidence suggests that people process, encode, and retrieve information differently depending upon their state of mind.
