Smoking cessation in pregnancy: the effect of hypnosis in a randomized study
Article Abstract:
Studies on pregnant women regarding the effect of hypnosis in the cessation and reduction of smoking confirms the established view that hypnosis is not very effective in smoking cessation, unlike other therapies. Only 10% of the subjects in both the self-hypnotic intervention group and the control group quit smoking. About 42% in the self-hypnotic intervention group and 31% in the control group reduced their smoking rate.

Exercise enhances the maintenance of smoking cessation in women
Article Abstract:
A three-month smoking cessation program on 20 nonexercising female smokers reveals that enhanced physical exertion is beneficial in temporary abstinence from smoking and can serve as a strategy for permanent abstinence. The program includes exercise treatment and contact control in the form of three specialized exercise sessions and three lectures on women's health and fitness per week.

Exercise effects on withdrawal and mood among women attempting smoking cessation
Article Abstract:
The acute and chronic effects of exercise on affect, cigarette craving and nicotine withdrawal symptoms, in women smokers were examined. The results show that vigorous aerobic exercise lessens negative affect, symptoms of nicotine withdrawal and craving for cigarettes. This indicates that vigorous exercise can be an effective adjunct to smoking cessation.
