Choosing the right pond: the impact of group membership on self-esteem and group-oriented behavior
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the group value model, which holds that pride and respect positively affect people's self-esteem and their behavior in groups, was undertaken. While pride refers to the position of the groups to which people belong, respect refers to these people's position within those groups. Results showed that both respect and pride are significantly related to self-esteem and group-oriented behaviors even as distinctions between and within groups are particularly vital. It was also revealed that respect and pride are important in understanding the relationships among group membership, self-esteem and group-oriented attitudes and behaviors.

The self-relevant implications of the group-value model: group membership, self-worth, and treatment quality
Article Abstract:
Research on authority relations in groups is that people respond favorably or unfavorably to the process by which authorities make policies, rules and decisions. This raises the issue of why the nature of authority treatment is so significant in a broad range of attitudes and behaviors. Three studies conducted to investigate this question showed that if people perceive authority as representing a valued in-group, then unbiased, considerate and trustworthy treatment generally increased their sense of respect and self-esteem.

Creative innovation or crazy irrelevance? The contribution of group norms and social identity to creative behavior
Article Abstract:
The effects of social identity and group norms on the creativity and innovative behavior of individuals and groups are studied. The findings show that when people make a creative product collectively, they display conformity to ingroup norms while they deviate from them when the same products are made individually.
