Social dilemmas as strong versus weak situations: Social value orientations and tacit coordination under resource size uncertainty
Article Abstract:
An investigation is conducted on how environmental uncertainty in resource dilemmas influences the decisions of participants having different social value orientations. Behavior is largely guided by the constraints of the situation in strong situations, resulting in little interpersonal differences in people's responses whereas in weak situations, behavior is more strongly influenced by dispositional factors, resulting in more interpersonal variation.

Undermining trust and cooperation: The paradox of sanctioning systems in social dilemmas
Article Abstract:
Sanctioning systems in social dilemmas are meant to increase trust in others and to increase cooperation.
