Social work in Latin America: History, challenges and renewal
Article Abstract:
Latin America is facing social and political upheavals against neo-liberalism and globalization and the indigenous people argue that their accompanying structural reforms have furthered their marginalization. The main goal of the new managerialism is to widen the social control of social workers by offering new frameworks of critical analysis, thereby answering the ethical, political and social realities currently experienced by marginalized populations.

Redefining social work standards in the context of globalization: lessons from India
Article Abstract:
The ways in which globalization has an impact on all countries of the world especially adversely affecting developing countries like India are discussed. It is felt that proper perspectives for addressing the negative feeling of communities should be developed by global and national standards for social work education.

Dominican Republic has made tremendous efforts to fulfill most of the international commitments expressed in the United Nations Millennium Goals. Though, a lot of work needs to be done regarding implementation of legislation and policies affecting children and women.
