Social work in Taiwan: A historical and critical review
Article Abstract:
A literature review of publications on professional aspects of social work in Taiwan and of laws, regulations and other official publications is described. It is suggested that Taiwanese social work community needs to cooperate in efforts aimed at broadening international networks on the one hand while meeting local needs on the other.

The search from within: Research issues in relation to developing culturally appropriate social work practice
Article Abstract:
The problems and issues of applying western research methodology in Malaysia, towards development of a culturally appropriate social work practice are discussed. The study reveals that, theoretical development of culturally appropriate social work needs to be conducted within an indigenous research paradigm.
