Social work, postmodernism and higher education
Article Abstract:
The debate between modernism and postmodernism has entered the realm of social work and focuses on the issue of whether the discipline stands for a single truth or many truths. The concept of a single or dominant world view is deemed by postmodernists as inappropriate to the practice of social work because social work is not a science that offers certainty. Instead, the practice of social work should be reflective and encourage diversity. In addition, the field should exemplify reality, which is neither fixed nor predetermined.
