Stimuli inevitably generated by behavior that avoids electric shock are inherently reinforcing
Article Abstract:
This article examines the reinforcing effects of response-generated stimulation, or feedback, on avoidance behavior in animals during tasks involving electric shocks. The combination of feedback from shock-avoidance behaviors and experimenter-induced stimuli are shown to account for the acquisition, selection, and continuation of avoidance behaviors.

A few minor suggestions
Article Abstract:
This article critiques a study that examines the relationship between reinforcement, natural stimuli, and avoidance in animals during tasks involving electric shocks. Further explanation of warning stimuli and the nature of variables associated with avoidance is suggested to help provide greater insight into avoidance behavior development in animals.

Explaining avoidance: two factors are still better than one
Article Abstract:
This article evaluates a study that examines the relationship between reinforcement, natural stimuli, and avoidance in animals during tasks involving electric shocks. The two-factor theory used in the study emphasizes the interplay of operant and respondent contingencies and provides new insight into the phenomenon of avoidance behavior development in animals.
