Suicide bombers: business as usual
Article Abstract:
Suicidal terrorism is militant Islam's potent weapon against western hegemony, especially in the Middle East. Interpreted as fanatical devotion to a religious or political cause, suicide bombers in Beirut and Israel are eulogized as martyred heroes of Islam. Militants recruited by Hamas from the West Bank and Gaza Strip are trained in religion, politics and explosives, and are assigned suicide missions aimed at destabilizing the Israeli state. Efforts to comprehend the Islamic militants' willingness to martyrdom must precede attempts to institute societal changes to counter suicidal terrorism.
