Suppressing the negative effect of devaluation on group identification: The role of intergroup differentiation and intragroup respect
Article Abstract:
Efforts made to examine how social creativity strategies such as intergroup differentiation and intragroup respect suppress the negative impacts of threat to an ingroup's value on group identification is discussed. Both intergroup differentiation and intragroup respect were higher when participants learned that the ingroup was devalued compared to when it was valued.

Article Abstract:
The complexity of identity poses challenges for processes of social perception impression formation as every person belongs to a diverse variety of social category. A study is reported, which shows that excitatory and inhibitory processes act in tandem to keep potentially conflicting self-categorizations from simultaneously occurring.
