The end of the Cold War was cruel to Cuba but one notable success was the emergence of pharmaceuticals that have helped the country to grow again and become the largest medicine exporter in Latin America, having more than 50 nations on its client list. The Fidel Castro made biotechnology one of the building blocks of economy that opened the door to intellectual property.
