The construction of Arabs as Enemies: post-September 11 discourse of George W. Bush
Article Abstract:
The aim of this study was to find out post September 11, 2001, presidential rhetoric to see if the use of stereotypical words and allusions fit Spillman and Spillman's model of enemy image construction. The study reveals that the collection of historically, politically, and culturally cultivated negative images of Arabs resembles the word choices used in post-September 11 speeches of President George W. Bush.
