The effects of number of a sample stimuli and number of choices in a detection task on measures of discriminability
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to test the Davison model of stimulus-response-reinforcer as a function of the number of different stimulus-response pairs that could be reinforced. The study also investigated if the stimulus-response discriminability parameter values were ordinally related to physical stimulus disparities. Six homing pigeons were used for the experiment. Findings have indicated that estimates of stimulus-response discriminability usually decreased as the arranged physical disparity between the sample stimuli decreased.

Stimulus effects on behavior allocation in three-alternative choice
Article Abstract:
A 1994 study on homing pigeons and their performance in three-alternative concurrent variable-interval schedules arranged in a switching procedure in which the alternatives are signaled by colored stimuli showed that both stimuli and reinforcer rates interact in their effects on log response ratios. This finding is confirmed by a study that focuses on variations in the stimuli rather than the reinforcers. The results are adequately explained by existing descriptions of concurrent-schedule performance.

Residence time in concurrent foraging with fixed times to prey arrival
Article Abstract:
Five pigeons were trained in a converged foraging procedure where reinforcers are occasionally available at fixed times in two discriminated patches. Results showed that two components comprised the average residence times in patch experiment, the acceptance component and the rejection component. These two components are said to be hard to separate during variable arrival times and whenever reinforcers of the parameters of alternate patches are the same with the current patch.
