The family situation of street youth in Latin America: a cross-national review
Article Abstract:
Street youth in the cities of Latin America consist of runaways, children and adolescents with a home who work on the street, and children of families who live on the street. Statistics reveal that majority of the street youths have a family. However, being victims of family disruption and physical abuse, they are unable to use the family as a source of support. In many cases, there is a tendency towards homelessness among youths working on the streets.
