The migration issue
Article Abstract:
Migration has become a global concern of the 90s as the number of legal and illegal immigrants reached 80 million. In view of this, the focus of attention has to center not on immigration per se, but on the successive effects of the increasing number of unskilled immigrants arriving at industrial countries over the past 30 years. Today, there are five aspects of migration that need to be considered. Some of these aspects concern the mixed reactions in various countries to increased migration, factors controlling migration flows, the inability of the US to accurately predict the effects of changes in immigration policies and the tendency of large-scale immigration to promote inequality.

The North American Free Trade Agreement: potential migration consequences
Article Abstract:
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) will create one of the world's largest trading blocs. The implementation of NAFTA will encourage the immigration of business persons as immigrants as well as impose reforms in Mexico's agricultural policies. The shift in policies will increase urban migration because non-landowners will have to seek employment in industrial areas. Likewise, landowners who do not qualify for government subsidy will have to seek urban employment either in Mexican cities or in US and Canadian areas.
