Japan's NTT research arm of the communication developed a cheap, postage stamp-sized alternative card known as Info-Mica that covers Cds and DVDs with thin, plastic that are hard to be pirated. Info-Mica cards don't spin and their drives don't require laser always, which makes them ideal for mobile services.
