Molar versus molecular as a paradigm clash
Article Abstract:
This article compares the molecular and molar theories of animal responses to aversive stimuli during tasks involving electric shocks. These two theories rely on significantly different paradigms to explain the reinforcing role of natural stimuli in the development of avoidance behavior in animals.

The molarity of molecular theory and the molecularity of molar theory
Article Abstract:
This article critiques a study that examines the relationship between reinforcement, natural stimuli, and avoidance in animals during tasks involving electric shocks. Findings claim to invalidate molar avoidance theory and suggest that shock-frequency reduction does not serve as a reinforcement to avoidance behavior in animals.

Are responses in avoidance procedures 'safety' signals?
Article Abstract:
This article critiques a study that examines the relationship between reinforcement, natural stimuli, and avoidance in animals during tasks involving electric shocks. Further explanation regarding temporal characteristics of stimuli associated with response, the establishment of safety signals, and the role of warning stimuli would provide greater insight into avoidance behavior development.
