Issues related to the social conflict that has arisen in Russia since the disintegration of the USSR are examined, focusing on an argument that the state is primarily responsible for the conflict. Topics include the mistaken economic policy, market reforms, regional policy, corruption, campaign finance, and labor conflicts.

Russia as a changing society: a summary of many years of sociological discussion
Article Abstract:
History is properly seen as a sociohistorical process and few countries have followed the ideal path of Europe and the US to modernization. Russian society can change when state structures remain authoritative and if income distribution is based on social-democratic policy.
