The mute always speak: on women's silences at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
Article Abstract:
The institutional and symbolic features of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), within which women's recollections were framed are discussed. These recollections present an opportunity to explore how apartheid violence and violation was incorporated into the meaning and feeling structures in relationships between wives and husbands, between mothers and sons and between women themselves.

The research design and sample are explained based on a survey, which studied gender difference and similarities in political and business elites of twenty-seven industrial countries are mentioned. These countries are all democrasies, characterized by industrialization and developed education system.
