The myth of gender differences in health: social structural determinants across adult ages in Britain and Finland
Article Abstract:
This article investigates the truth behind the saying 'women are sicker, but men die quicker'. The authors, examining gender differences regarding health among adult populations in Britain and Finland, argue very little difference exists between ill health and gender, but find a correlation among health and employment among women in both countries.

Widening or narrowing inequalities in health? Comparing Britain and Finland from the 1980s to the 1990s
Article Abstract:
Issues are discussed regarding the effect of employment status on health inequalities in Britain and Finland between 1986 and 1994. The claim that the greater chance of a 'healthy worker effect' makes for smaller class inequalities in health among the employed labor force in countries with high levels of unemployment is made.
